Healthy comes from lifestyle changes, not quick fixes. The steps are simple, but they are interconnected. Here are my top 5 must make changes to getting on the road to healthy.
I'm not one for fluff so I'm going to cut right to the chase.
1. Listen to your body
Nope, not the rumbling in your stomach (ok, maybe listen to that too). I'm talking about watching your body intently for "red flags"- changes in your body, symptoms-- pay attention to things like energy level, mental health and stability, level of discomfort, sleep quality, digestive disturbances, skin irritations. All of these things are "red flags" our body is holding up and saying "Help! Something is wrong-- here's your sign." I think we've gotten so used to a "normal" that's not really meant to be normal at all and we tune all these things out or just target the symptom. We're about to flip our mindset upside down. We're going to listen to our body, and address it's needs.
2. look first to nutrition
Sure, maybe you were dealt a bad set of DNA. So was I. What are you going to do about it? Sulk? I did that for a while and it wasn't working for me. I got more anxious, more depressed, and my symptoms only worsened. Yeah, it sucks to battle chronic illness, but I encourage you to really fight back, starting with food. Everyone who has a body needs proper, balanced, food nutrients. I take Lifelong Vitality Supplements every single day because I can't afford to be exhausted, get poor sleep, be in pain all day every day, or be off my rocker. I have better things to do than to dwell in misery- I have bigger dreams to chase. So do you. Here's your next steps: 1) Take a true therapeutic dose of whole food nutrients like Lifelong Vitality- if you don't notice a difference, get your money back! Seriously. 2) Make good food choices. You don't have to be perfect, but research inflammatory foods, and then research what inflammation contributes to. Then make it a priority to fight disease rather than feed it.
Every time you eat or drink, you are either feeding disease, or fighting it.
3. Rest + quit stressing
Coming from a background of reigning anxiety queen and an "I'll sleep when I'm dead" mentality, I understand where you're likely coming from. I want to encourage you to just take a rest + stress management challenge. Here's what it entails: Take 2 Serenity softgels 30 minutes before bed. Start your diffuser with 3 drops Serenity, 3 drops Breathe, and 1 drop On Guard at the same time. Turn off your screens and turn in at a time where you'll get 8 hours of sleep before you need to be awake. Before you lay down apply a drop of Vetiver and a drop of Balance to the bottoms of your feet and put any excess on the back of your neck. Take a drop of Copaiba or Frankincense under your tongue. Do this for just ONE week, and if you're not overall feeling better after a week-- write me some hate mail. I'll take it! During the day support your body by applying Balance to wrists, the back of your neck, and behind your ears. It's even safe to dilute and use on your baby's feet to help them remain calm as well. Just try it! If you hate it, you can come back and tell me.
Still need to get some oils? You can buy them for 25% from yourself with your own wholesale account which is free with any starter kit-- it's a no brainer. Click here to get started and I'll be your oil mentor and support you as you learn to use your oils. I'll also make sure you get an invite into our members only resource areas-- 'cause I love you!
4. Drink more water
Duh! Everyone says this-- but are you? Do you track your intake? Make sure you're drinking half your body weight in ounces. Ex: If you weigh 120lbs, you should be drinking 60oz a day. Track yourself for 3 days and see how you're doing! If you want to add a mild flavor and antioxidant/detox support, try adding some of my favorite oils: Grapefruit, Tangerine, or Lemon. Make sure your oils say they are safe for internal use. They will have a supplement fact on the side and the bottle will tell you how much should be in your water. Make sure you're always using glass or stainless steel when dealing with citrus oils especially. They have the ability to dissolve synthetics which is great for our bodies but not for our cups we're drinking from! Don't forget you'll want a glass or stainless straw as well. Try one and let me know what you think.
5. Get hormone hijackers out of your house.
I'm not afraid to come in and open up your cabinets to see what kind of hormone hijackers I can find in there. More commonly called "hormone disruptors" these things are hiding everywhere: cleaners, skincare, hair care, nail polish, deodorant, lotion, sunscreen, perfume, air freshener, scented anything, laundry supplies, toilet paper and feminine products-- you name it! Clean out your cabinets of anything that might be throwing your hormones for a loop. I like to use the EWG.org "Skin Deep" ratings to check out products before I use them in my house. Get rid of things that are bleached or chemically treated such as disposable products. It might actually simplify your life! If you want to know what our house looks like under our sinks, checkout my "home" highlights at instagram.com/ahopefilledhome so you can see what the after can look like. Hormones are the commanders of almost everything in the body-- we have to make sure we protect their delicate balance if we want to find health freedom.
So what do you think?
Where are you now? Where do you want to be?
How can you bridge the gap?
Which of these habits do you need to prioritize?
Which one will be the hardest?
Share your thoughts! I'm here to encourage you.
